Learning Enrichment

Learning Enrichment is the co-ordination of resources to provide specific students with identified needs, the opportunity to succeed at learning.

At St Anthony's Catholic College learning enrichment is planned and extended to students within each year level.  Students' needs may be reflected as:

  • A difficulty whereby students need assistance in particular areas of the curriculum generally due to a specific concern in literacy or numeracy.
  • Learning disability where the student's concerns are neurologically based and are long term.
  • Access to learning is affected by verified disability (physical, intellectual, social/emotional, ASD).
  • Gifted students whose needs may not be met by the general curriculum.
  • Those who have English as their second language.

The role of the Learning Enrichment staff is to respond to the needs of children who have been identified as gifted and talented, who experience learning difficulties, or have been verified with a disability within the school.  The Learning Enrichment staff, in conjunction with other staff members, primarily focuses on implementing programs aimed at developing the learning needs of these individual students.

Interventions planned for each student are based on an understanding of how students learn, where the individual student's needs lie on a curriculum level and what recommendations/strategies need to be implemented for that student within the classroom and in a withdrawal setting.  The school Learning Enrichment Program is based on a strong professional network of support involving the Learning Enrichment staff and the classroom teacher.
