Curriculum Overview

St Anthony’s Catholic College implements the Australian Curriculum from Prep to Year 10. From 2024 -2026 a transition period will be undertaken, moving from the Australian Curriculum v8.4 to v9.0.

Through the Australian Curriculum, the College offers students a broad, comprehensive and well-balanced curriculum, designed to meet the evolving needs of both our students and the wider community. We are committed to providing a contemporary, 21st-century education that emphasises the development of higher-order skills in problem-solving, research, creativity and innovation.

The effective delivery of this curriculum necessitates excellent access to online resources, the flexibility to engage in extended periods of focused study, opportunities to work with a range of expert educators and the ability to utilise resources within the broader community.

We firmly believe that every student has the right to an education that is equitable and responsive to their individuality. Accordingly, our curriculum is designed to support and encourage the holistic development of all students. We are deeply committed to fostering each student's intellectual, emotional, spiritual, physical and psychological growth, thereby promoting their overall wellbeing.

In Years P–10, our curriculum encompasses eight key learning areas of the Australian Curriculum. The curriculum for Religious Education is determined by the Townsville Education Office.

  • English
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Languages (Italian and Japanese)
  • Mathematics
  • Religious Education
  • Science
  • Technologies (Design Technology and Digital Technology)
  • The Arts

In Years 11 and 12, students are offered an extensive and diverse range of subjects to cater for a wide variety of aspirations and pathways, including tertiary entrance and vocational education and training. Senior subject options include Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) General and Applied Subjects, as well as Vocational Education and Training (VET) Certificates.
